So WTF Am I doing

Well, I'm not sure just yet wtf I am doing here. I am hoping that will become self-evident. My idea currently is that I may be able to model the growth of this blog and this project after the life cycle of mushrooms themselves.

Mushrooms start with a spore; a tiny, purple speck that is almost impervious to destruction (McKenna claims that spores are so tough they are capable of surviving space flight). Spores float along minding their own business until they come across the basic nutrients they require to do their thing. This is when they take root, and start growing mycelium, which seems to be nothing more than a network of living, breathing organic material. The mycelium grows outwards in all directions, absorbing as many nutrients and as much water as it possibly can. Then one day, when conditions are right, it simply starts growing fruit bodies (aka mushrooms), which are more or less giant (by comparison) erections protruding out into space, and spreading more spores. This creates a symbiosis with any animals nearby who may eat this fruit and gain insight from it.

The effort here will hopefully be very similar. The spore has taken root, mycelium is forming. I'm working very hard to spread out in all directions and build up a network of information. Then one day, when conditions are right, something interesting, thought provoking, and insightful will emerge. Of course this is not guaranteed by any means, and neither are mushrooms. For one, the conditions really do have to be right, if this doesn't happen then nothing will be produced. Secondly, the environment needs to be clean. If it gets contaminated, everything will fall apart and die. And lastly, it has to want to happen, just like mushrooms. They seem so fickle as if they really do have a mind of their own. They have to be welcome and treated with respect, or they'll decide to keep their head down.

Help me grow this. Please give me feedback. The comment sections are all wide open and I'll be keeping up with them. Post comments and questions, and if they're appropriate, I'll respond in post form (and if not the rest of us can have a good time mocking you, in post form of course). I can do what I can to keep the conditions here nominal and to keep the contaminates at bay, but if anything will come of this effort, it will only be because we want it too.
