Magic Mushrooms

Yup, that's the name of the game here, magic mushrooms. Though let me just say right here, that while yes, they're magic, for fuck's sake are we in grade school? So like an adult, we're here to talk Psilocybe cubensis. Why? Because I believe them. Notice the phrasing here, I believe them. Not, "I believe in them" or "I believe they're good", no, I believe them. They communicate withe me, and when they do, I believe what they are telling me. Now, if you're already saying to yourself, "this person is fucking nuts", I'll say, "good, you found a reason to leave, now display some follow-through would ya?"

Now for the rest of you, here's my deal. I have always loved to trip, but this was primarily in the sense that I did it for recreation. And as far as tripping goes, I prefer the boomers. Don't get me wrong, there are many great psychedelics that will get you there, but for me and my purposes, I've always found Psilocybin to be my preferred mode of travel. Why? Well first, why do I trip? Because I'm trying to escape, I'm trying to find truth, I'm trying to break my conditioning, and I'm tired of trying. Why Psilocybin? It is my preferred flavor of crazy. As far as crazy goes, they're really getting to me now, because they've convinced me to do this.

So I was reading Terence McKenna, one of my favorite people, and (out of the many, many quotes of his I'll most likely get into in the future) I came across this, my raison d'ĂȘtre:
The early approach with psychedelics was the correct one. This is the notion that intelligent, thoughtful people should take psychedelics and try and understand what's going on. Not groups of prisoners, not graduate students, but mature, intelligent people need to share their experiences. It's too early for a science. What we need now are the diaries of explorers. We need many diaries of many explorers so we can begin to get a feeling for the territory.
And so that is why. Now, however intelligent or mature I am is surely debatable. But I don't see enough of us stepping up to the plate on this. Sure you have all the trip reports on Erowid or Lycaeum, but are they enough? Do they really give us any interesting information aside from various methods of consuming psychedelics and what other stuff is fun to mix them with? Do they help us understand "what's going on" and give us "a feeling for the territory"? I don't know, but even if they do, I would contend that they lack in quantity and quality, not to mention visibility. My response is to put my mushrooms where my mouth is and do it myself, in blog form. Hence Psycho-Not.
